Hotel Function Triumphs Over Style, Montreal.
This hotel opened about 14 months ago but the determining conception is of the 1970s. My room is entirely professionally acceptable, and the style does not triumph over function. This is because the style aims to be inoffensive.
An uneventful flight from Chicago & the usual longer-than-it-seems-necessary at the Canadian border. The immigration inspectors no longer look hostile, as once was the case - for about 25 years of my Crimsonising crossing-Canadian-borders experience.
On the drive to Chicago airport I learnt more about the autograph-collectors outside the hotel last night. It seems that one in particular was threatening, and about to hit Pat for blocking him from following me into the hotel, to be nasty to me. I assume this is the man that called and offered a more personal kind of relationship than merely signing photos. His other comments were, reportedly, less friendly. He knows our airline of choice & hopes that Osama blows up our 'plane. Fripp doesn't show respect (by signing the photo) and is mean - he fires the guys he hires. This fan won't buy any more records or tickets for shows.
